Information about the Tau Bootis System used in the "Wolf in the Flock" storyline. Information is constantly being added through the various mission arcs. The System - A nearby binary star system in the constellation Boötes - It consists of an F star primary, Tau Bootis A, and a red dwarf companion, Tau Bootis B. The red dwarf moves around the primary in an extraordinarily elongated path (eccentricity = 0.91), taking about 2,000 years to complete each circuit at an average distance of 245 astronomical units (37 billion km, or 23 billion miles). - A massive planet has been found in orbit around the primary at less than one eighth the distance of Mercury from the Sun, making it one of the most extreme examples yet found of an epistellar jovian. - The system is located approximately 2 days at high warp from McKinley Station.
Space activity - There are no known anomalies in the area. In fact, the system is not much known by SF. The system is rarely visited by ships that are just using the space to pass through, it is used as a shipping lane for the mining operations in the system.. - So far there has been no unusual traffic in the system, only commerce. No apparent increase in military presence from any race. Planet Megara -Tau Bootis 6 is a planet roughly the size of the planet Neptune in Sector 001. It is a class M planet and holds position orbit in the shadow of the large planet seen here. This shields it from the effects of the red dwarf as well as Tau Bootis A. The planet is prone to heat in the low 90s- 120 degrees farenhieght. High winds are also prevelant most of the time. The planet has been known to suffer sand storms with winds in excess of 100 mph. - N/A
Tau Bootians - N/A
Ships in the system - N/A
Note: This is not cannon information as official Star Trek information about Megara and its inhabitants is rather rare. This information was created for the purpose of the game while using from information found online from the TNG novel featuring Megara.
